
EAST BUNSWICK, NJ – East Brunswick has received $57,850 in grants from the Arts Institute of Middlesex County for the year 2025.
The amount will go toward the various arts and culture programming in the Township.
The recipients include the Recreation Department, The East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, Playhouse 22 and EB Indie Film Festival
“Arts and cultural programming continue to thrive in East Brunswick. We are proud to be home to so many organizations and home-grown initiatives that bring people together in celebration of the arts and our rich cultural diversity,” Mayor Brad Cohen said in a statement.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Arts Institute of Middlesex County and the Middlesex County Commissioners for their ongoing commitment to supporting the arts. This generous funding, nearly $60,000, will help us continue to foster creativity, diversity, and community in East Brunswick.”
East Brunswick’s annual Fourth of July Celebration is a highlight of the summer. Last year, the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra performed live as fireworks illuminated the sky.
The Arts Institute of Middlesex County has awarded the East Brunswick Recreation Department $16,500 to continue this experience in 2025.
“The partnership between the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra and our Fourth of July celebration brings a special level of excitement to our community,” Cohen said. “It’s an experience that residents will look forward after last year, and we are thrilled to be able to offer it again. The Symphony has become a bright light in the East Brunswick arts community and continues to surpass itself with each performance.”
The East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra also received $6,000 for a special concert on May 4th. The “May the 4th Be With You” concert will feature a live performance of John Williams’ iconic music from the “Star Wars” films. This event will be held at the Middlesex Magnet School in East Brunswick. T
East Brunswick Arts Coalition got $7,000 from the Arts Institute of Middlesex County. There are plans to expand the building, and it’s capabilities and reach. The Arts Coalition, in collaboration with local organizations, is leading this charge through highly anticipated and well-attended arts and cultural programing.
Playhouse 22, the East Brunswick Community Players, has become a cornerstone of the area’s theater scene. Known for their exceptional productions, Playhouse 22 has been awarded $7,500 to enhance their 2025 season of performances, ensuring audiences can enjoy a variety of theatrical experiences.
As East Brunswick prepares for its designation as a “Film Ready” town by the State of New Jersey, the EB Indie Film Festival has been growing year after year, bringing local filmmakers and film enthusiasts together for a celebration of independent cinema. The Arts Institute has provided $4,475 to support the continued success of this event.
The Indian Cultural Society of East Brunswick, which has been serving the community for 25 years by promoting Indian culture and heritage through various events and programs, has received $13,775 in support of its programming.
Middlesex County has given the East Brunswick Museum $2,600 for programming. The museum has an expansive collection and knowledgeable volunteers, that work hard to keep history alive.
