Dearborn receives grant to promote arts, culture and public health programming

The Michigan Arts and Culture Council awarded a $12,000 grant to Dearborn’s Department of Public Health to support arts and culture programming that helps with public health.

Emagine Health Services is also providing matching funds to further strengthen the initiative. This grant allows the city to support programs that use arts to promote well-being, ensuring residents can experience the civic, economic and educational benefits of creative expression.

“We know that health isn’t just about clinics and policies — it’s about the environments we create, the connections we foster, and the opportunities we provide. By leveraging resources such as this grant, we’re making sure health and creativity go hand in hand in building a stronger, more vibrant community,” Dearborn Chief Public Health Officer Ali Abazeed said in a press release.

The Michigan Arts and Culture Council operates under the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and provides funding to state and local entities to organize art and cultural services.

Details on upcoming programming will be available on Dearborn’s city website and via Dearborn DPH social media (@DearbornDPH on Facebook and Instagram).
