Lancaster, TX – After facing challenges in a previous audit that resulted in the
temporary retention of federal meal program funds, Lancaster ISD’s Child Nutrition
Program has made a remarkable comeback—passing its latest site review with a
perfect score. This achievement reflects the district’s unwavering commitment to
providing high-quality, nutritious meals to students while upholding the highest
operational standards.
The recent audit conducted by the Department of Agriculture assessed two schools:
Lancaster Middle School and Rosa Parks Elementary School. Under the leadership
of Manager Mrs. Lola at the middle school and Manager Mrs. Kershetta Dears at
the elementary school, both campuses demonstrated excellence in compliance, meal
service, and record-keeping.
Teamwork, Training, and Preparation
Achieving a perfect score required months of dedicated preparation from the Lancaster
ISD-Chartwells team, in collaboration with district principals and the Chartwells
administrative team. The staff participated in intensive training sessions, ensuring
every team member understood the audit requirements, meal service standards, and
compliance expectations.
“We focused on proactive training, attention to detail, and seamless communication
between our food service staff and school administrators,” said Zenia Ventura, the
Dining Services Director. “Everyone worked together to ensure a smooth audit process,
and it truly paid off.”
A Commitment to Excellence
The turnaround underscores Lancaster ISD’s dedication to best practices in child
nutrition. With a renewed focus on operational excellence, accountability, and student
wellness, the district has set a new benchmark for school meal programs.
“By implementing accountability tools and process improvements across the
department, we have secured results and built a high-achieving culture. Moving forward,
our team will be recognized for a child nutrition program rooted in best practices,
teamwork, and success,” the Dining Services Director affirmed.
This outstanding achievement not only restores full federal funding to the district’s meal
program but also strengthens the confidence of parents, students, and the community in
Lancaster ISD’s commitment to high-quality school nutrition.
