My mom and I have the same taste in a lot of things—and everyone around us, especially my very observant husband, has noticed. Our homes have a very Euro artistry vibe; when you walk in, you can tell we think alike in terms of design. And if you look at our beauty and clothing closet, you’ll also see I’m my mother’s daughter—think: classic beauty staples and lots of black (and Spanx!).

But, it got my thinking: My mom is 65 and I’m 31. We’re from different generations, and while sure, there are some beauty staples better suited for her mature skin and some clothing styles that I wear that she certainly won’t (like mini skirts), there are so many fashion and beauty staples perfectly suitable for both of us. (Not to mention, my 35-year-old sister is a fan, too.)

SpanxSmooth PerfectFit Ponte Wide-Leg Pant

When pants are this perfect, they deserve to be written about on repeat, which I’ve definitely done. And, while I might have inspired you, dear readers, to try these PerfectFit Wide-Leg pants at some point (yay!), my mom was actually the first to be swayed by my rave reviews. When I first got these several years ago, I FaceTimed her while trying them on; I praised the flattering ponte material, the super comfy stretch, and the perfect wide-leg silhouette. Shortly after, my mom proceeded to buy them, too, and she loves them just as much. 

Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil

I was first turned onto this Le Prunier oil thanks to Chrissy Teigen, who posted about it on her Instagram and, naturally, made it sell out hours later. After finally getting my hands on the hydrating, soothing skin care essential, I was blown away; it smells so wonderful, calms any redness, and gives me a dewy glow. My mom, who’s also prone to redness and irritation, was amazed by how my skin changed overnight—so much so she tried it, too. Her experience was very similar to mine, and since then, we always make sure we have a restock within arm’s reach.

Intimissimi Boat Neck Modal Cashmere Ultralight Top

If you’re looking for a subtly sexy top that’s actually so warm and versatile, look no further than Intimissimi’s celeb-worn cashmere top. Kendall Jenner and Jennifer Lopez are both fans, as am I and my mom, of course. While it’s semi-sheer worn on its own, all you need is to layer a tank top underneath for an opaque look. I like to wear it sheer and my mom likes to wear it opaque, but therein lies the beauty in its versatility and wearability. 

Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream

My mom has used this cream for decades, and while many of the products on this list are things I introduced her to, this German skin care staple is one she put on my radar—and I’m so glad she did. Dr. Hauschka’s Rose Day Cream is a lightweight daily moisturizer that soothes my skin and smells fantastic. It also balances my T-zone, but still gives me a healthy glow. What’s more, Jennifer Lopez swears by it, too. 

Skims Stretch Cotton Jersey Boyshorts

I’ve officially hit the point in my life where I value comfy undies above anything else. Sure, I have some lacey lingerie here and there, but more often than not, I’m wearing these Skims cotton boyshorts that are out-of-this-world comfy and breathable. My mom, sister, and I all own them in multiples, and I pretty much overhauled my entire underwear drawer with them—that’s how good they are.
