Frankenmuth ranks among most underrated winter travel destinations in US, study finds

This Michigan hidden gem is quite the winter wonderland, and it’s finally getting some national recognition for exactly that.

Frankenmuth, a quaint little town, was recently ranked No. 5 for America’s most underrated winter vacation destinations. It is often recognized as Michigan’s Little Bavaria due to its German heritage and architecture, according to Pure Michigan.

It is also home to Bronner’s, a magical Christmas store with an array of items. Not to mention, the town serves up a mean fried chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn and Zehnder’s.

According to a study from FamilyDestinationsGuide, over 3,000 experienced travelers were surveyed to determine the top 150 underrated winter travel destinations.

“Its picturesque streets, adorned with festive lights and decorations, create a magical atmosphere. Families can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, ice skating, and snow-covered landscapes that look straight out of a holiday postcard. Don’t miss out on Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store, for an enchanting shopping experience,” said the release.

On the list of 150 locations, two other Michigan spots made the cut. These include Houghton, at No. 43, and Munising, at No. 90.
