Prather named Assistant Basketball Coach at Grambling State


Grambling State University men’s basketball head coach, Donte’ Jackson has announced addition of Cameron Prather to his staff as an assistant coach. 

He comes to GSU after serving as an assistant coach at Wallace State Community College. Whle at WSCC, he coached a top 100 player in NJCAA, as well as multiple all-conference performers. Wallace State sported a record of 61-27 in the three years he was on staff. 

Prather previously coached at Athens Prep Academy in Tennessee, where he also served as an assistant. There he helped develop numerous Division I players such as Darlinstone Dubar, Isaac Spears, Chris Nix, Josaphat Bilau, Angelo Stuart and Tyrus Baynam.

Prather, who graduated from Whites Creek High (Tenn.), played collegiately at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., from 2011-2015. Prather was first team all defense in 2014. In 2012, Cumberland reached the Division II Top 25. 

Prather earned his bachelor’s in health and human Performance with an emphasis in sports management and his master’s in business administration. He served as a graduate assistant there for two seasons before moving on to Athens Prep.
