
Tamil Nadu is unwavering in its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development, Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani said at the SAKSHAM 2025 valedictory function held recently.
Delivering the keynote address, he said the State had been adopting a multifaceted approach by increasing forest cover through extensive tree planting initiatives, reducing reliance on private vehicles by bolstering public transportation infrastructure, and implementing stringent vehicle emission checks. Mr. Sakkarapani stressed the importance of individual responsibility and urged citizens to cultivate eco-friendly habits, such as walking and planting trees, to build a greener State.
M. Anna Durai, Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and State-level coordinator, Oil and Gas Industry, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, said SAKSHAM 2025, the Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav, was celebrated with the theme ‘Cleaner Environment through Green and Clean Energy’, which resonated well with the participants during the 14-day event held in several parts of the State. He appreciated the collective efforts of all oil companies, including IOCL, in raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices, thereby contributing significantly to the national goal of net zero emissions.
