BOONE, N.C. – As the 2023-24 App State men’s basketball season sits less than a week away, a packed slate of promotional dates and theme nights were announced Wednesday for the team’s 16 home games.
 
Head coach Dustin Kerns‘ squad is poised to deliver fans lots of exciting moments this season at the Holmes Convocation Center as they were picked to finish second in the preseason Sun Belt coaches poll, while also garnering two preseason All-Sun Belt selections.
 
The Mountaineers return a core of six players that combined to play more than 4,690 minutes and start in 133 games last season. Among the group is Donovan Gregory, who became the 35th member of App State’s 1,000-point club last February, and CJ Huntley, who has seen his scoring average rise each year in the High Country.
 
Along with Gregory, Huntley and the rest of the returners, Kerns and his staff will welcome a talented group of newcomers, highlighted by Butler transfer Myles Tate, first team NJCAA All-American Tre’Von Spillers and freshman Jordan Marsh, who averaged 27.7 points per game at the Big Shots Prep National High School SLAM last year.
