If there’s one member of the Hollywood elite who keeps her dating history as hidden as possible, it’s Zoe Kravitz.
Over the years, the star has kept the details of her ex-boyfriends and their respective romances incredibly low-key. Those who regard Kravitz as the ultimate cool girl may know her slew of high-profile previous relationships. But for the uninitiated, the 34-year-old’s recent engagement to actor Channing Tatum has provided an excuse to revisit the list of ex-boyfriends who have won her heart. (Including New York’s perennial “Lonely Boy” Penn Badgley, a.k.a Dan Humphrey).
While we wait with anticipation for further news on Kravitz and Tatum’s nuptials, revisit Kravitz’s ex-boyfriends below.
Channing Tatum: 2021 – present
It was the relationship nobody saw coming—and the engagement no one anticipated. The Alabama-born Magic Mike star first crossed paths with the chic California-born Kravitz when they both voiced characters in The LEGO Batman Movie in 2017. But it would be four more years before they were photographed riding on a pushbike together around New York’s East Village. It was the first time in years that both actors were single at the same time. And a few weeks later, they sent the internet into a spin when they arrived at the 2021 Met Gala hand-in-hand.
“[Channing’s] just a wonderful human,” the Big Little Lies star told GQ in 2022. “He makes me laugh, and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other.”
Tatum and the Saint Laurent muse innocuously announced their engagement on Halloween, wearing outfits inspired by the 1968 horror film Rosemary’s Baby to surreptitiously share the news.
Karl Glusman: 2016 – 2020
The Tiffany & Co. ambassador and American actor Karl Glusman had been dating for two years when the latter popped the question in their living room in 2018. A year later, they wed in a lavish ceremony at Kravitz’s famous father, Lenny Kravitz’s, home in Paris.
“[Karl’s] just one of the kindest people I’ve ever met,” Kravitz told Dax Shepard during an episode of his podcast Armchair Expert. “He’s one of the most honest people I’ve ever met, and I feel like I’ve known him since I was a kid, even though I haven’t. There’s this connection where it’s like we’ve always known each other, we’ve always lived together.”
In 2020, a year after getting married, Kravitz filed for divorce.
George Lewis Jr: 2015 – 2016
Kravitz and George Lewis Jr, known by his musical alias Twin Shadow, first connected in 2015 after the musician joined Kravitz’s band, an electropop and R&B three-piece called LOLAWOLF.
The pair cemented their relationship by performing a rendition of Sade’s 1992 single “No Ordinary Love” on Late Night with Seth Meyers before debuting as a couple at the ELLE Women In Hollywood Awards in October 2019.
Soon after, the pair attended the 2016 Coachella in April in matching Canadian tuxedos. But after a few months of dating and regular trips together to New York and Miami, the pair split. The once very public couple deleted all pictures of one another off their respective Instagram pages.
Drake: 2013
While their relationship wasn’t officially confirmed until 2017, Drake and Kravitz had a brief fling in 2013. The pair were spotted kissing on the dance floor at a Beyoncé concert before taking their fleeting romance online in a series of indie sleaze-coated Instagram pictures (as seen above).
Neither Kravitz nor Drake addressed their romance until the actress was confronted about it on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live. Co-appearing on the show with comedian Ilana Glazer, Kravitz was asked if the rumours were true that the pair dated. “We hung out for a minute. But we are very good friends. You know,” Kravitz responded.
When prompted further by Cohen as to whether they “mashed a little bit” during their hangouts, Kravitz laughed and said, “We hung out a little bit. You know, it’s like how I hang out, I don’t know how you hang out… He’s a cutie.”
Watch the moment for yourself below:
Penn Badgley: 2011 – 2013
In the early 2010s, Kravitz cemented her status as a New York ‘It’ girl through her relationship with Brooklyn’s one and only ‘Lonely Boy’, Penn Badgley.
Similar to her relationship with Tatum, Kravitz began soft-launching her romance with Badgley through candid strolls in Manhattan. Badgley even told the press that he credits his role on Gossip Girl as the reason he met Kravitz thanks to the show placing him in New York for a considerable amount of time.
The pair dated for nearly three years, with Badgley taking a page out of Dan Humphrey’s book and describing his time with Kravitz as “real, true, earth-shattering love.”
Sadly, their relationship didn’t last (though the memories of their hipster romance live on).
Michael Fassbender: 2010 – 2011
In 2011, Kravitz and her X-Men: First Class co-star Michael Fassbender were reportedly linked after connecting on set. The pair kept a very low profile, with the only confirmation of their relationship a rare sighting in the West Villiage on a brunch date. However, as soon as this flame began, it fizzled out.
Sources at the time didn’t equate their 12-year age gap to the demise of their romance, but soon after splitting with a then-22-year-old Kravitz, the Irish actor had moved on with another co-star.
Chris Pine: 2010
Though Chris Pine and Kravitz have neither confirmed nor denied if they dated, a sling of one-night dates across Europe and America suggests the former.
Pine and Kravitz were first connected in 2010 after meeting at that year’s Met Gala. Three years later, in 2013, Kravitz and Pine attended a string of fashion shows and events as part of London Fashion Week, though they soon went their separate ways after the sartorial proceedings.
Later, in 2019, Pine reappeared in Kravitz’s life amid her divorce from Glusman. In 2021, Pine and Kravitz reconnected over dinner at Los Angeles’ Sushi Park. Though the pair were pictured hugging, the evening was purely platonic.
Ezra Miller: 2010 – 2011
In 2010, a then 22-year-old Kravitz and a 17-year-old Ezra Miller were reportedly seeing each other. The now-disgraced actor was seen with Kravitz at multiple New York parties, though nothing ever eventuated of their relationship.
