In light of their ongoing fight, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were made fun of at the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday.
Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, the hosts of the glitzy Award ceremony, gave Imelda Staunton a shout-out. Beckett joked, “She’s nominated for her performance in The Crown… apparently, Phil and Holly got to watch that a couple of days before everybody else!”
Ranganathan, 45, laughed and said, “Little bit of edge for you early doors! How d’ya like that?” Beckett, who is 37, noticed that “all the ITV guys” were trying not to laugh.
Thousands of people (including David Beckham) waited up to 24 hours in a queue to see Queen Elizabeth II laying in the state last September, yet Willoughby, 42, and Schofield, 61, were given special access. This incident has been dubbed “Queuegate.”
Even though they worked for This Morning at the time, the public laughed at their level of access. Schofield told GB News a few months after Queuegate that he and Willoughby were “unfairly targeted.”
“I think it was a shame that what happened, happened,” he said, and then the reporter asked if he wanted to say sorry.
“Why would I apologize?” Schofe asked. “You’ve already seen that 700 other journalists did exactly the same thing,” she said.
