Batavia, N.Y. — A man died after being struck by a car in Genesee County Wednesday night.

Around 7 p.m., deputies responded to State Route 5 in Batavia for the report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Once there, they found a man laying in the roadway, seemingly struck by an SUV. He died from his injuries, according to deputies.

Investigators determined the man entered the roadway and failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

The investigation is ongoing, and deputies said more details will be released once the victim’s next of kin are notified.
