Burberry and V&A Announce Landmark Fashion Gallery Transformation

Burberry has announced an exciting new partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in South Kensington, London, marking a significant moment for British arts and culture. As part of a multi-year collaboration, Burberry will support the transformation of the museum’s iconic Fashion Gallery, which will be renamed The Burberry Gallery upon its reopening in spring 2027.

The Fashion Gallery, one of the V&A’s most visited permanent spaces, will undergo a major renovation after closing this May. The revitalized space will offer an interactive and immersive experience, allowing visitors to engage with the museum’s world-class fashion collection in innovative ways. Alongside the new gallery, the partnership will introduce a comprehensive learning program available both onsite and online, expanding access to fashion education for a wider audience.

Burberry CEO Joshua Schulman described the partnership as a milestone, bringing together two British institutions with a shared commitment to upholding the heritage and creativity displayed within each. “We are so thrilled to come together with the V&A team to celebrate the rich history of fashion and to develop an immersive space that will inspire creative minds for generations to come,” said Schulman.

The V&A has previously showcased Burberry pieces in major exhibitions, including Fashioned from Nature and NAOMI: In Fashion. This new collaboration cements Burberry’s dedication to supporting arts and culture, following past partnerships with the British Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia and the Royal Academy’s Thomas Burberry Prize.

V&A Director Tristram Hunt emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating that both Burberry and the V&A have been pillars of British fashion for over 150 years. “This partnership allows us to share the V&A’s incredible collections in new and accessible ways,” said Hunt.

While the Fashion Gallery undergoes redevelopment, the V&A’s fashion collections remain accessible at V&A East Storehouse – opening May 31st, 2025 – and online.
