Tennis star bursts into tears while discussing the war between Israel and Palestine

Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur burst into tears during the on-court interview after beating Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-4, 6-3 at the WTA Finals in Cancun. When asked if she was happy about the victory, the Tunisian tennis player did not hesitate to reveal how much she’s struggling lately after seeing what’s going on between Israel and Palestine: “I am very happy with the victory but I have not been very happy lately, the situation in the world does not make me happy,” said the winner of five WTA titles.

Just at that moment she stopped as she could not contain her emotion. She began to cry. From the stands, she was embraced with applause. Her interviewer reminded her how sport allows her to get away from her problems and thanked her for what she was doing on the court.

“I wish I could do it, but it’s so hard to see children, babies dying every day. It’s heartbreaking. So I’ve decided to donate part of my prize money to help the Palestinians. I can’t be happy with this victory,” Jabeur continued.

“This is supposed to be about tennis but it’s very frustrating to see videos every day. I’m sorry, this is not a political message, it’s just humanity. I want peace in this world. That’s all,” the Tunisian concluded.
