Julia Haart writes her own style rules.
While the star rose to fame in fashion after leaving the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community she grew up in — as documented in her book “Brazen” and Netflix’s “My Unorthodox Life” — she tells Page Six Style clothing has always been “about self-expression” for her.
“When I lived in my community, clothes [were] meant to conceal … basically, the way it made me feel is that I’m interchangeable,” she says of her upbringing.
“From the day that I walked out the door, [fashion] meant freedom. When I wear low-cut tops and miniskirts and short shorts, all of those things are my freedom flag. They say to the world, ‘My body — I get to choose what I put on it.’”
That includes undergarments designed to look just as good underneath clothes as they do when taking them off; lingerie lover Haart served as creative director of La Perla from 2016 to 2018, and relaunched her own shapewear brand, +Body, earlier this year.

“I thought to myself, what do women actually do when someone’s undressing them?” she says, recalling a memorable scene from “Bridget Jones’ Diary” where the titular character strips down to her shapewear.
“I can’t think any woman wants to be caught dead in nasty-looking, ugly granny panties.”
In fact, now that the single star is dating again, she’s reaching for pieces she can show off as part of her night-out looks, telling us, “I’m not ashamed of my body; I don’t have to hide who I am.”

But the star’s ultimate style advice? Dressing for “who you are,” as “there’s nothing more attractive than confidence.”

“It’s so much thinner than anyone else’s shapewear … You could be wearing a light pink dress and put this bodysuit under it, and nobody will see it. You’re supposed to wear it under clothing, [but] the beauty of it is, it’s so pretty that it doesn’t have to go under clothing. You could wear it on its own.”

“I have multiples of them because they’re so incredibly comfortable. No underwire, but it still holds everything in place. I really love it.”

“I love thongs. I just find them very comfortable … but it needs to be one that molds to your body. Don’t wear something that’s gonna feel like a poker your entire day.”

“They’re sexy, they’re fun, they’re not expensive and they’re comfy.”

“Everyone should have a lingerie set in her drawer, whether it’s Agent Provocateur, La Perla, Fleur de Mal or Victoria’s Secret … something [that makes you] feel sexy and sensual and beautiful.”
“Sometimes when I’m feeling worried about something, I will put on the fiercest pair of underwear that nobody’s going to see. It makes me feel strong.”

“Jacquemus makes little bralettes that I find really comfortable.”
