Independent artists and readers meet for San Antonio Indie Comics Fest


SAN ANTONIO – Independent artists from across the country, with many hailing from the Alamo City. met with comic fans to celebrate art and storytelling.

On Sunday, the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts and Culture hosted the San Antonio Indie Comic Fest, bringing independent authors, artists, and enthusiasts together.

The event offered a fun day for readers of all ages, including storytelling, arts activities, Loteria games, and more.

“Today’s event, it’s all centered around local and regional artists that some of whom are actually exhibited in our show,” said artist and curator Gabe Garcia. “And we have artists that are selling their work, that are able to talk about the project that they’re doing, and are artists that this is kind of what they do.”

The event came as part of the programming for two literary-themed exhibitions at Centro de Artes gallery, including Borders, Bleeds, Margins and Gutters and A Thousand Words: The Power of Pictures in Book.
