After losing patience with Trump’s “name-calling,” a former ambassador in his government has decided to support his competitor Ron DeSantis for president. Don Tapia, who served as Trump’s ambassador to Jamaica from 2019 to 2021, has contributed over $50,000 to DeSantis’ reelection campaign and hosted two fundraisers for the Florida governor. Former executive of an electrical company Tapia contributed six-figure sums to Trump’s 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns but now supports DeSantis if he runs for president. Tapia told Politico about Trump, “The name-calling has turned off a great number of people. Tell you what, we don’t like that.”
