
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women’s basketball team tips off the 2023-24 season tonight inside the Qubein Center. Barton College comes to town for an exhibition matchup at 8 p.m.
Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: “I am excited for the players we have returning and who we brought in. The girls have made so much progress since the summer and I know they are ready to play. The ceiling is very high for this team, and I am excited for the vision we have.”
High Point heads into the new basketball season as the Big South Conference favorites. Lauren Bevis, a transfer from Gardner-Webb University, was named the Big South Preseason Player of the Year. Nakyah Terrell, was named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
“One thing that I want fans to know about our team is that we all want the same goal and that is to win a championship not only for ourselves but for each other,” Bevis said.
The Panther fans welcome back some familiar faces, while welcoming seven new additions to the squad in five transfers and two freshmen.

Terrell, a key returner for the Panthers, will be back in the starting five as she was one of the team’s top scorers last season. She started each of the 31 games she played, averaging 10.4 points per game and 2.7 assists.
High Point and Barton meet for the second time in program history. In 2017, the Bulldogs came to High Point resulting in an 82-69 win for the Panthers.
Fans will receive schedule posters at the entrance before enjoying Panther basketball for yet another season at the Qubein Center.
