PORTLAND, Ore. — It’s finally May and there’s so much happening. We have Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, a few heritage months, and Memorial Day. Portland is buzzing with events this weekend, from the city’s largest Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Tom McCall Waterfront Park to the return of the Portland Derby, Crafty Wonderland, and the inaugural Winefest at McMenamins Edgefield. Families can check out the free Mother’s Day Craft Pop-Up & Indigenous Marketplace, while the Lan Su Chinese Garden launches a monthlong celebration of Asian heritage. Hood River hosts its 10th annual Cider Fest, and UK rapper Central Cee hits the Roseland Theater.

Portland Cinco De Mayo Fiesta
When: May 2-5
Where: Tom Mccall Waterfront Park, 98 Southwest Naito Parkway, Portland
What’s going on: Portland’s largest fiesta is back this weekend! The three-day event will return to Tom McCall Waterfront and run Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day. It will feature performances by a Mexican folk dancing troupe and internationally known mariachi bands and singers, including Mariachi Ciudad De Guadalajara and more. There will also be carnival rides and cultural crafts and games for kids.

The Portland Derby
When: May 3
Where: The Redd on Salmon Street, 831 Southeast Salmon Street, Portland
What’s going on: Another event returning to Portland after is the 18th installment of the Portland Derby. A social event filled with fashion, roses, mint juleps, dancing and more. There will be prizes for best dressed, making it the perfect reason to get your derby giddy up on.

Asian Heritage Month
When: May 3-31
Where: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 Northwest Everett Street, Portland
What’s going on: Come out and join Lan Su Chinese Garden as it kicks off its four-week-long celebration of special cultural programs and performances for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Portland’s Chinese garden has partnered with more than 20 local cultural organizations to present and explore the history, traditions and arts of AANHPI cultures.

Crafty Wonderland

Where: Oregon Convention Center, 831 Southeast Salmon Street, Portland, OR
What’s going on: Are you an artistic person? A fan of all things arts and crafts? Well, here is your craft heaven: the Crafty Wonderland event will be hosting over 225 booths of homemade goods. The two-day event is one not to miss!

Central Cee: “Can’t Rush Greatness” tour
When: May 2
Where: Roseland Theater., 17100 Northwest Sauvie Island Road, Portland
What’s going on: UK rap sensation Central Cee will bring his “Can’t Rush Greatness” world tour to Portland as part of a 39-date tour following the success of his record-breaking debut album. Central Cee’s debut album has achieved the biggest streaming day of all time for a UK rapper globally. The London-born artist, nominated for three Brit Awards, including Best UK Artist, has emerged as a transformative figure in contemporary rap.

Hood River Cider Fest
When: May 3
Where: Hood River Event Site, Portway Avenue, Hood River
What’s going on: The 10th annual Hood River Cider Fest returns this spring. The fest offers cider drinkers an opportunity to sample ciders from Oregon and Washington’s finest cider makers. About 30 cideries will be participating this year. Grab your glass and go find your new favorite cider.

Mother’s Day Craft Pop Up & Indigenous Marketplace
When: May 3, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: 10402 Northeast Sandy Boulevard, Portland
What’s going on: Historic Parkrose will host a free, family-friendly Mother’s Day Craft Pop-Up and Indigenous Marketplace, bringing together art, culture and community on Saturday. The event is a collaboration with Portland Indigenous Marketplace, Print Arts Northwest and BLICK Art Materials.
Attendees can create handmade cards at a fully stocked card-making workshop station, thanks to support from BLICK and PAN. The Indigenous Marketplace, curated by Portland Indigenous Marketplace, will feature Native artists and culture-bearers offering handcrafted jewelry, artwork, skincare and more. Visitors can also shop from a variety of local craft vendors and small businesses offering Mother’s Day gifts.
The event aims to celebrate creativity and care while supporting local and Indigenous makers. Admission and art activities are free.

Inaugural Winefest
When: May 3, 2 – 6 p.m.
Where: Edgefield – Blackberry Hall, 2126 Southwest Halsey Street, Troutdale
What’s going on: Wine lovers can sip, sample and support a good cause at McMenamins’ first-ever Winefest, featuring more than 50 wines from 15 regional wineries, along with wine-inspired beer and cider. The event will include a grand tasting, live music, brand showcases, and a silent auction benefiting ¡Salud!, an organization that helps provide affordable healthcare for vineyard workers and their families.
Admission is $48 in advance or $53 at the door and includes 10 tasting tokens and a souvenir wine glass. Additional tokens will be available for purchase.
Live music performances will include Syco Billy’s String Band from 2 to 3 p.m. and The Junebugs from 4 to 6 p.m.
