Kim Kardashian is being asked to do something new on the world stage.

Armenian-American protesters showed up at the entrance to the exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood in Calabasas, California, where the 42-year-old reality star lives with her children, on a recent Saturday.

Kris Jenner’s sisters Kourtney, Khloe, and Kylie Jenner, as well as their mother Kris Jenner, also live in this gated neighborhood.

During this strong protest, people held up Armenian flags and held up signs that said things like “Kim, Speak up for Artsakh” and “Kim, Your People Need You.”

The choice to go after the Kardashian family wasn’t random; it was made because they have strong family ties to the area. Kim’s late father, Robert Kardashian, was an Armenian-American from the third generation. This ties them to their Armenian roots.

In 2015, Kim went to Armenia with her sisters Kourtney and Khloe to remember the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

Now, the whole world is watching as they are asked to use their platform to advocate again, this time in response to a humanitarian disaster on a global scale.

Since a few weeks ago, protesters in the greater Los Angeles area have been stopping traffic to bring attention to what they say is a constant crisis in the Republic of Artsakh, a region where about 120,000 ethnic Armenians live.

Their claims are based on what they say is a crisis that started in December when the Azerbaijani government blocked the only road that connects Artsakh to Armenia.
