Every year, the Spring Juried Student Exhibition performs a double service:
Student artists learn the details of packaging, presenting, and pricing their work, and community members get a generous sampling of early works from the area’s emerging artists.
The call for this year’s Spring Juried Student Exhibition got an enthusiastic response. Students submitted 160 works for consideration, from which Prescott art docents Adriene Buffington and Ann Ramsey selected 88 pieces.
The exhibition includes works from a wide variety of disciplines: paintings, drawings, ceramics, metal sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, lapidary, and printmaking. The student pieces are, by turns, colorful, intricate, intense, and whimsical.
Together, they make a collective statement about the amazing level of talent within the College’s Visual Arts programs.
The Yavapai College Art Department will combine its opening reception for the Spring Juried Student Exhibition with its End-of-Semester Celebration on Friday, May 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Prescott Campus Gallery. Admission is free, with food and live music, and an awards ceremony at 6 p.m.
