Rabat – Morocco’s Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat, hosted a special tea ceremony in Baku on Thursday, bringing together influential Azerbaijani women from the realms of culture and the arts.

The event saw the participation of some of Azerbaijan’s most prominent figures. 

Chafing Mammadova, a celebrated theater and film actress, and Fidan Hadjieva, an opera singer and mezzo-soprano, both of whom are pillars of Azerbaijan’s artistic community, were in attendance. 

Amina Melikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and Shirin Melikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Fine Arts, also graced the occasion. 

Also in attendance were Nouzha Alaoui, Secretary-General of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat, and Aïcha El Boukhari, wife of the Moroccan Ambassador to Baku, both of whom played key roles in the event’s organization.

This gathering points to the shared commitment to cultural preservation and the promotion of women’s leadership in the arts across both Morocco and Azerbaijan.

On Sunday, Princess Lalla Hasnaa visited Azerbaijan International Carpet Festival in Baku. She was welcomed as guest of honor by key cultural and civic figures. Yesterday, the Princess also visited a secondary school in Baku as part of a new educational partnership linking schools in Rabat and the Azerbaijani capital. 

All of these visits served not only as a gesture of hospitality but also as a meaningful act of cultural diplomacy which, in its turn, reflects Morocco’s belief in the power of culture to build lasting connections. 

By bringing together leading Azerbaijani women in the arts and heritage sectors, Princess Lalla Hasnaa reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Azerbaijan, particularly through cultural exchange. 

For Morocco, culture stands as a pillar of mutual understanding and cooperation as it stands as a bridge between peoples and a foundation for enduring ties beyond politics or economics.
