Acadiana Center for the Arts proudly presents the inaugural State of the Arts Symposium 2025 on Friday, June 13, from 1pm to 8pm. Designed as a bold new civic forum, State of the Arts will elevate public conversation around the vital role arts and culture play in Lafayette’s economy, identity, and future.
With over $1.5 billion in annual revenue generated by Lafayette Parish’s cultural sector, the arts are the largest economic driver in our region. Yet rapid shifts in technology, education, and community engagement pose significant challenges. This symposium brings together leaders from across business, government, education, and the arts to explore new strategies for strengthening our cultural infrastructure and maximizing its impact.
The day features a series of dynamic panel discussions, the unveiling of new economic data, and several major announcements about upcoming initiatives in the cultural sector. Topics include the role of arts education, the economic impact of creative industries, and how cultural programming fosters community development.
A highlight of the event will be the keynote presentation by Louisiana native Dr. Christophe Jackson, titled “What Creativity Does to Your Brain.” Blending neuroscience, performance, and personal storytelling, Dr. Jackson will share compelling insights into how creativity supports cognitive development, mental health, and social cohesion.
An informal evening reception from 6pm to 8pm will offer networking opportunities with local artists, innovators, and civic leaders who are shaping the future of Acadiana’s cultural landscape.
Join us for a full day of learning, connection, and inspiration. Register now and be part of the movement to strengthen arts and culture in Lafayette for generations to come.
