Lakelife Nutrition, a nutrition club on Middle Road in Milton, is gearing up to celebrate its three-year anniversary.
Since its opening in 2020, this unique establishment has not only provided the community with healthy shakes and teas but has also become a hub for people seeking a welcoming and positive environment.
Co-owner Leslie Piela shared her thoughts on the journey and impact of Lakelife Nutrition on the community. She emphasized the inspiration behind opening the club during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We began to think that we need a place that could be an oasis of sorts, where people could come in and we could just love them up. A place where our customers could feel good about things. It’s a no drama zone and we could serve them really good nutrition that just tasted really ridiculously delicious,” Piela said.
Over the past three years, Lakelife Nutrition has worked to foster a strong sense of community. Piela noted that many patrons travel from other towns, some even making the journey from Burlington, because they feel valued and cared for when they visit. She also highlighted the friendships that have grown out of this positive environment and the community involvement, which includes fundraising, food drives and support for local organizations like the Milton Family Community Center.
The focus on healthy options has been a cornerstone of the business’ success. Piela pointed out that their shakes and teas provide people with a nutritious and energizing alternative to other options.
“They can come in, have a shake, have tea and they don’t crash, they feel good. Our customers don’t feel yucky or overstuffed afterwards, and it makes them want to come back for more,” she said.
Reflecting on the business’ growth, Piela mentioned the hiring of exceptional individuals who were initially customers.
“We have people that volunteered their time, just to help out behind the bar…You could tell they were really very supportive of what we were doing and understood it. And then I hired them, they’re family now,” Piela said.
To celebrate their three-year journey and express their gratitude to the community, Piela and her husband/co-owner Michael are hosting an anniversary event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The event aims to be a “big family celebration” with treats, specialty shakes, teas, a drawing and a spinning wheel for prizes. It’s an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the positive atmosphere that has made Lakelife Nutrition a special place for many.
Looking to the future, Piela aims to continue promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in Milton. She also highlighted the role of the new Milton Walking Club and the positive impact it has had.
“I’d like to really promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Bringing people on board, and really doing more around a healthy active lifestyle in the community and helping people really get to be their best is my hope for the future,” Piela said.
The Milton Walking Club, organized by local Milton resident Dan Dougherty, utilizes Lakelife Nutrition as a meeting spot and serves as a hub for club members.
“I’m just really really proud of Dan for what he has done with the club. Watching it grow has been incredible, and you can see that it empowers him,” Piela said.

In her closing remarks, Piela expressed her gratitude to the community that has made Lakelife Nutrition thrive.
“Lakelife Nutrition wouldn’t be here without them… That’s what we live for. We wouldn’t be able to do that if we didn’t have incredible people that were kind, loyal, loving, sweet, and willing to support us the way they do,” she said.
