From May 24 to June 2, 2025 Cremona Contemporanea / Art Week returns: a visual arts festival that transforms the city into a vibrant space for exhibitions, installations, talks, and events, connecting contemporary art with Cremona’s historic identity. In its third edition, the initiative—under the artistic direction of Rossella Farinotti (contemporary art and film critic, curator, and journalist)—is promoted by the Department of Tourism and Events of Cremona with the support of the Cremona Industrial Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona-Mantua-Pavia, the Confcommercio Provincia di Cremona, and the Community Foundation of the Province of Cremona.
Following the great success in terms of public participation and extensive media coverage Cremona Contemporanea / Art Week confirms its position as a leading event in the art sector and an important opportunity for enhancing Cremona’s cultural heritage, both nationally and internationally.
At the heart of the festival is the interaction between the city’s locations and the works of the twenty artists selected for this edition: Ludovica Anversa, Trisha Baga, Michaël Borremans, Arianna Carossa, Daniele Costa, Olivia Erlanger, Irene Fenara, Stina Fors, Maximo Gonzalez, Emilia Kina, Giulia Maiorano, Edoardo Manzoni, Eva & Franco Mattes, Luca Monterastelli, Giovanni Oberti, Marta Pierobon, Andrea Romano, Vedovamazzei, Angharad Williams.
From well-known sites to the city’s most hidden corners, the Cremona Contemporanea / Art Week 2025 map will unfold across nineteen locations, including historical palaces, squares, museums, places of worship, theatres, workshops, and disused spaces. A unique opportunity to discover Cremona’s rich historical and artistic heritage, starting from venues that have become an integral and established part of the festival, such as: Palazzo del Comune, Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista, Museo Archeologico San Lorenzo, Palazzo Zaccaria Pallavicino—FasArchitetti, Palazzo Fodri, Chiesa del Foppone, Cinema Teatro Filo, Palazzo Vidoni, RobolottiSei, Palazzo Affaitati, and Palazzo Raimondi.
Highlights of this third edition include two spaces opening to the public for the first time: the Church of San Francesco—former Ospedale Maggiore, now part of a city regeneration project, and the Crypt of the Camposanto dei Canonici, home to rare 11th-century mosaics. Other key venues include Palazzo del Comune, Palazzo Vidoni, Palazzo Fodri, Cinema Teatro Filo, the historic Pasticceria Lanfranchi, and even unconventional sites like shop windows in Galleria XXV Aprile , Parco Bastioni di Porta Mosa and billboards on Via Mantova—confirming how contemporary art can activate the urban fabric and expand its reach.
In 2025, Cremona Contemporanea / Art Week expands its engagement with the city and its institutions, reaching beyond Cremona itself, with the aim of amplifying the festival’s resonance and presenting original, tailor-made content.
Among these is the Faville program, returning after last year’s success to enrich the festival’s itinerary through a series of events curated by professionals in the fields of art and cultural enterprise. These include: a group exhibition of young artists—curated by VENERDISABATO, a duo of recent graduates from Milan’s Brera Academy, under the supervision of Simeone Crispino—hosted by PQV Fine Art gallery; Bar Cremona, a talk format curated by Giorgio Galotti taking place in the historic rooms of Pasticceria Lanfranchi; Brigantia—an editorial and curatorial project by Annika Pettini, which, on the occasion of Cremona Contemporanea / Art Week, expands its landscape: starting from an unpublished text created from the research of artist Simona Pavoni, a dialogue is established between her works and one of the spaces of the city. This year’s edition will also feature “Herenzia”, a participatory art project by artists Maximo Gonzalez and Iván Buenader, culminating in a collective site-specific installation made up of plates donated by the public.
Complementing the exhibition itinerary is a rich program of public events, including talks, performances, film and literary presentations.
