A visit to the downtown Lewiston Center for Arts & History, owned by Lewis-Clark State College, is more than a connection of campus to community — or a center for arts, culture and the humanities.
It is also one of Lewiston’s oldest business sites. The center was built in 1884 as the Vollmer Great Bargain Store, a 12,000-square-foot space on the National Register of Historic Places. From 1904-46, it was the First National Bank of Lewiston. From then until 1989, it was First Security Bank of Idaho.
