Nicola Woodmass, known as ‘Northern Nic’s Back Kitchen’ on social media, describes herself as a ‘busy working mam who’s not a bad cook’.
She posts short videos, almost daily, where she shares her favourite meals and recipes with her followers.
Some of her recipes include butternut squash soup, where Nicola uses leftover vegetables. She has also shared apple tarts, carbonara risotto, sweet potato, and chicken bake meals, to name a few.
Not only has Nicola gained hundreds of thousands of followers, but she has also built up a loyal fan base.

Some of her followers even send Nicola parcels. Last week, she received a card and a decorative wall sign.

Nicola said: “I have got the best Facebook friends. You are all amazing, and I love that. Thank you so much, I am so grateful.”
As well as posting her self-taught recipes to Facebook, Nicola also shares them on YouTube, where she has almost 8,000 subscribers.
One of her most recent YouTube videos reviews Hanabi Sushi in Carlisle, a new takeaway in the city, which she says is ‘fresh and flavourful’. She also supports other local businesses such as Castle Chocolates and Bells Fishmongers.
