‘Explorations in Color’

Known for his ethereal portraits, David Frederick Riley’s new exhibit is saturated in emotion and color. A departure from Riley’s more often seen monochromatic palette, “Explorations in Color” opens this week at Altamira Fine Art.

Riley said his paintings often look more like watercolor than oil. The atmosphere on the canvas rolls off in a moody way, adding to the intimacy of staring eye to eye with Riley’s wild subject matter: deer, elk, bear, bison and moose.
