West Hollywood Hosts Full Slate of Arts and Culture Events – WEHO TIMES West Hollywood News, Nightlife and Events

The City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division had a busy weekend here in West Hollywood—here’s a fun wrap-up:

The WeHo Artists Roundtable was held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at West Hollywood’s City Council Chambers. This spring’s roundtable focused on the film genre, featuring a panel discussion with Sara Silkin (artist and filmmaker), Larry Laboe (Executive Director of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles), and Sheldon Larry (Head of Film at the Lee Strasberg Institute). The event showcased the panelists’ film work, followed by an engaging discussion.

The Summer Sounds concert series featured performances by Haley Fishberger, Rob Milton, and Zeinapur. The event took place in the cozy Kings Road Park, where locals packed the venue to enjoy the two-hour program. Some relaxed on the grass while others brought picnic baskets full of light snacks to complement the experience.

Plummer Park hosted the 24th Annual WeHo Mishka Festival, co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood and the City’s Russian-speaking Advisory Board. This festival is an important celebration for the city’s Russian-speaking community and the wider public.  The festival highlighted art, live performances, and cultural traditions. Local food vendors, kids’ face painting, live performances, an arts and kids’ fun area, and participation from California government representatives—including West Hollywood council members John Erickson, Lauren Meister, Danny Hang,  Rep. Friedman, and Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur Representative Joshua Mari-Mora was on hand during the celebration. The festival was well attended by the Russian West Hollywood community and focused on the rich cultural heritage, history, and arts of the many ethnic groups from the former Soviet Union residing in West Hollywood and Los Angeles.

It was also the closing day for the Voices of Resilience Art Exhibition, held at the Great Hall in Plummer Park. This showcase celebrated the courage, creativity, and community of many local Russian artists. The day featured free art-making activities for kids, local artists selling their work, storytelling circles, and live music. The event wrapped up with the prestigious Peter Frank Jury Award.
