Women’s Tennis Dominates on Day 2 of Rainbow Wahine Fall Invitational – University of Hawai’i at Manoa Athletics


HONOLULU—The University of Hawai’i women’s tennis team won four of five singles matches and two doubles matches on Day 2 of the Rainbow Wahine Fall Invitational on Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
Hawai’i has now won nine of 10 singles matches and all four doubles matches through the first two days of the Fall Invitational.
 
Day 2 started with singles. UH’s Joelle Lanz swept Hawai’i Pacific’s Leonie Muller, 6-1, 6-3 while Nikola Homolkova defeated HPU’s Abi Wild, 6-4, 6-1. Hawai’i’s Kaitlyn Ralar knocked off Lynn Kader, 6-4, 6-2. Sheena Masuda dropped her first set to Sara Hejtmankova, but battle back to win Set 2 to force a super tiebreaker in which she won by two points, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5).
 
In doubles action, Ana Vilcek and Homolkova paired up to defeat HPU’s Wild and Hejtmankova, 6-3. UH partners Nelly Knezkova and Masuda nearly shutout Muller and Kader, 6-1.
 
The Rainbow Wahine Fall Invitaional concluded on Saturday, Nov. 4. First serve is slated for 11:00 a.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.
