IDEA Public Schools to offer free summer meals for children in El Paso

IDEA Public Schools’ Child Nutrition Program has announced it will provide free meals to children throughout the summer.

According to a statement from IDEA, food will be provided to anyone 18 and younger, regardless of whether they are enrolled at IDEA schools.

Meals will be provided from Tuesday, May 27, to Thursday, July 31.

Fernando Aguilar, Vice President of the Child Nutrition Program at IDEA Public Schools, emphasized the importance of the program.

“We know nutrition is essential for all children in our community, not just during the school year, but throughout the summer as well,” Aguilar said. “With nearly 1.7 million children in Texas at risk of hunger this summer, we’re proud to continue helping fill that gap by providing nutritious meals that ease the financial strain on families during the break.”

Breakfast will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The service will be closed on federal holidays and from June 30 through July 4.

According to the statement, all meals must be consumed in the cafeteria of any IDEA campus from Monday through Friday.

Anyone seeking more information about the summer meals can contact the cafeteria manager at any IDEA campus.
