The valley is heating up this weekend. 

With higher temperatures expected in Tulare County—101 on Saturday—now is the perfect time to treat yourself to a cold treat.  

Here are some local favorites that are sure to cool you off and satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. 

Cold Stone Creamery

Hand rolled ice cream with a variety of toppings, this sweet spot has been in Visalia for more than 30 years. All ice cream is hand churned and made in the store. They also offer cakes, shakes and smoothies. 

Handel’s 

• Where: 3301 S. Mooney Blvd.
• Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has been in business since 1945. Earning the title of No. 1 ice cream on the planet by National Geographic Magazine, they offer a variety of unique flavors made fresh at each location. 

Some local flavors include: black raspberry chunk, green tea, key lime pie, coffee chocolate chip and vegan pomegranate sorbet.

How We Roll

• Hours: Monday-Thursday 12 p.m.-8:30 p.m.; Friday- Sunday 12 p.m.-9:30 p.m. 

Fresh ingredients from local farms are used to create signature flavors. Customers can also create flavors from the many ingredients available. All organic milk and cream with no preservatives is used to make How We Roll ice creams. 

La Michoacana Irresistible 

• Where: 3000 N. Dinuba Blvd. Suite D
• Hours: Open every day 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. 

La Michoacana Irresistible offers a variety of authentic, homemade Mexican ice creams, popsicles and aguas frescas to enjoy on a hot day. Their traditional treats are made with fresh ingredients on-site. 

Scoops on Main

Tiki Snow offers Hawaiian shave ice, ice cream and frozen coffee drinks. A local summertime tradition with a variety of cold treats for hot days.
