Have cravings of strawberries been gnawing at you this summer?

Farms all around Ohio are getting ready for strawberry season — and some started weeks ago. While strawberries can be purchased year-round at grocery stores, there’s nothing like picking the fruits by hand.

Here are a few places that offer you-pick strawberry picking within driving distance of Marion County:

1. The Pickwick Place

Address: 1875 N. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus

Phone: 419-562-0683

Hours: Beginning Saturday, May 31: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays. After the weekend of June 14-15, strawberry picking is weather and availability dependent.

Website: https://thepickwickplace.com/

Cost: $5.75 per quart or $43 for a flat (eight quarts)

Additional info: No reservation required, but The Pickwick Place encourages visitors to call ahead of time to check availability of pre-picked strawberries or after June 14th for you-pick availability. Upon arrival, visitors will go to the market building to purchase their container, then they’ll walk to the strawberry field. June 13-14, The Pickwick Place will host its Strawberry Jamboree, which will include all things strawberry, additional activities and a tractor-and-wagon ride to the field.

2. The Berry Farm

Address: 23861 OH-4, Richwood

Phone: 937-594-9173

Hours: Strawberry picking will run for the first two weeks of June while strawberries remain available. The farm is open to picking 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but times may vary.
