Daily News Release- November 4,2023 – Chatham-Kent Police Service


Chatham-Kent, Ontario – The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 167 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.

Stolen Vehicle in Bothwell- CK23057143 

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a stolen truck in Bothwell.

On the morning of November 3, 2023, at approximately 4:50 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) stole a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck, with a 2008 12-foot trailer attached to it from a residence in Bothwell.

The vehicle is described as a green two-ton pick-up truck with a 2008 wooden trailer attached to it, a jerry can of gas, and several tools in the trailer. The truck was last seen bearing Ontario license plate 2502 VC, and the trailer bearing Ontario license plate E2273N.

Residential Break and Enter in Merlin- CK23057154

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break-and-enter in Merlin

Sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a Merlin residence causing $1,000 in damage and removing $6,000 in tools and electronics. The residents were not home at the time of this incident, upon returning home, the resident contacted police after discovering that some items were missing.

Scenes of crime officer attended. Suspects observed on the surveillance system. This investigation is ongoing.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving in Harwich Township – CK23057203 

The Chatham-Kent police arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Creek Road, Harwich Township.

Through investigation, the first officer on scene believed that the man was driving his car while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

The Chatham resident has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He has been released with conditions pending a future court date of December 4, 2023.

All parties involved sustained minor injuries and did not need to be transported to the hospital.

Windsor Man Charged with Theft- CK23057222

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a resident of Windsor in connection with a theft investigation yesterday in Chatham.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. a Loss Prevention staff member of Canadian Tire attempted to place a shoplifter under arrest for theft. He was observed grabbing multiple items including a crowbar, mechanic gloves, long-handled bolt cutters, and a deadbolt lock. The man made his way to the garden center and attempted to throw the items on the other side of the fence. The Loss Prevention staff of Canadian Tire attempted to place him under arrest for theft and contacted the police. Police arrived on scene to continue the arrest; however, the man attempted to flee from police and was apprehended after a short foot chase.

He was taken into custody and has been held pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences in Wallaceburg- CK23057288

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an investigation regarding domestic violence.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. the man attended his ex-partner’s residence intoxicated by alcohol and began to argue with her over access to their child. The man became physical and the female was assaulted, as well as a third-party female who attempted to intervene was threatened and assaulted as well.

Before police arrival, the man fled the residence with the woman’s cellphone. As a result of the investigation, the man was located and arrested for three counts of assault, theft, possession under $5,000, and uttering threats.

The man was taken into custody and held pending a bail hearing.
