The American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center (4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC) will host The Teen Experience from June 14 to August 10, showcasing artwork by current and former students of the Montgomery County Public Schools Visual Art Center (VAC). The exhibition explores themes such as identity, mental health, and digital life from a teen perspective.
According to MCPS, “The Teen Experience showcases work by teen artists from MCPS Visual Art Center located in Albert Einstein High School. VAC just celebrated its 50th anniversary as the longest running magnet program in MCPS. Exhibition is curated by VAC teachers and co-coordinators Sarah Harnish and Mygenet Harris with works from VAC Alumni and current students. The exhibition will be at American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center.
Through paintings, installations, and immersive environments, VAC student work explore identity, mental health, family, and digital life from a teen’s perspective. The exhibition invites all ages to reflect on what it means to grow up today.”
