Roseroom by Isha Jajodia’s ‘Lumière et Lace’ is a dreamy ode to the season’s brides. t2ONLINE chatted with the designer.
‘Lumière et Lace’ is signature Roseroom. What’s the secret to this romance that you ace at weaving with every collection?
‘Lumière et Lace’ is all Roseroom because it expresses the essence of romance through emotion-driven design. It is built on our deep-rooted love for lace, to weave with lace is to explore romance in its most tactile form. Our creations are born out of nostalgia, joy and quiet strength expressed by light and poetic silhouettes in lace, organza and tulle. It’s that emotional depth matched by artisanal detail that lends a sense of intimacy and timelessness to each, making each collection feel like a love letter rather than just fashion.
You love lace… tell us how it speaks to you?
Something expressive, detailed, and unique keeps bringing me back to lace. For me it represents romance. It is delicate while still managing to carry strength, is sensual while also being nostalgic. It provides the capacity to blend emotion with structure and softness with definition. That balance is the essence of every piece from Roseroom.
And pastels too! What’s your favourite pastel shade?
Celestial pink feels like the soul of Roseroom. It’s soft, light-infused, and endlessly romantic. It brings back memories of serene mornings, old photos, and other peaceable times. Because it is so calming and nostalgic which is why it continues to find its way into Roseroom’s palette time and again. Celestial pink enhances Indian skin tones beautifully, complements pearls and lace with ease, and adds elegance and ease to any silhouette.
What are the top picks for the summer brides this season?
The Roseroom brides this season are favouring feather-light lehngas in mint, ivory and powder pink hues, created in organza, tulle and georgette. Signature styles: Printed and scalloped sarees, belted drapes, corset blouses and lace skirts and layered shararas. These are ideal silhouettes for summer soirées and destination weddings, there’s detail in the form of pearls, lace appliqué and threadwork, sans weight- staying true to being lightweight, comfortable, elegant, and hassle free across every wedding ritual.
It’s been a decade for the label. How has it evolved?
The studio which started as a lace-focused couture studio has evolved over the years to become a prominent label in India’s luxury couture and prêt markets. Now, boasting of over 20,000 customer-base across India, the Middle East and the UK, the label stands as a testament to what’s possible when you let your craftsmanship and storytelling do the talking. What started as a lace-centric look has developed into a full-fledged occasion and bridal collection recognisable for its romantic touch and meticulous attention to detail.
What have been the learnings? What’s on the anvil?
Over the past decade, we’ve learned the importance of staying the course, creating a loyal community, and staying true to our design DNA while adapting in the marketplace. In the future, we’re also set to push deeper international expansion, enhance our bridal offer, and do limited-edition drops that keep the brand fresh yet grounded in its signature language.
