Calallen breaks ground on new Performing Arts Center

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Workers broke ground today on the brand new performing arts center at Calallen High School. The project includes design of a new 23,330 square foot performing arts center with an auditorium, stage, and support spaces.

Improvements to the stage mean that the full band will be able to perform together and the new lighting system will assist the U.I.L.’s One Act Play program as they begin to compete in higher divisions across the state.

Calallen Superintendent Emily Lorenz says she hopes the new center gives students and residents pride in their fine art program and it’s capabilities.

“We really want this to be the gem of Calallen ISD,” Lorenz said. “We want it to be a place where we can gather and show our excitement on the wonderful things our students are doing day in and day out.”

The project is expected to be completed by Spring of 2027.
