It all started on January 30, when the City of Alameda released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Cultural Arts and Arts Programing grants. At the time, eight grants, totaling $60,000, were available for cultural arts and arts programming in Alameda.

A total of 17 proposals were submitted for an array of artistic disciplines such as dance, theater, and mixed media.

At a special meeting on April 28, PAC decided to award two additional grants and an additional $10,000 of Public Art Fund, for the current total of 10 grants and $70,000 (see chart).
