The Classic Center Cultural Foundation recently introduced its newest community initiative, “A Heart for Art,” which invites the public to donate art supplies to Clarke County elementary schools to be used in creative projects throughout the upcoming school year. The summer-long program will run from June 1 through August 1, according to a press release.
The donation drive supports the Cultural Foundation’s mission to provide and support diverse performing, visual and culinary arts programs in the Athens community.
Some suggested items to donate are crayons, children’s paint sets, glue sticks, washable markers, colored pencils, construction paper, Play-Doh, sketchbooks and child-safe scissors.
A donation box for art supplies will be in The Classic Center’s lobby. Additionally, supporters can purchase items from The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s Amazon Wishlist, with all items shipped directly to The Classic Center.
All donations must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 1. The Cultural Foundation team will distribute the collected supplies to Clarke County elementary schools prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.
