Special to the Register
Developers in Waukee are seeking to create a food and entertainment hot spot in an expanding neighborhood in the city.
Caliber Co. and its JCorp Design Build announced Tuesday, June 10 their plans for Kettlestone Social, a two-story food hall with indoor and outdoor game and lounge options that would be at Grand Prairie Parkway and Westown Parkway. The venue is yet another recently announced or opened addition to the growing Kettlestone Central mixed-use district that Caliber is developing.
Kettlestone Social to have food vendors, outdoor courts, arcade, fire pits
Developers have not yet broken ground on Kettlestone Social. And the planned opening date for the more than 16,500-square-foot building — with another almost 12,500 square feet of outdoor and yard space — is not until fall 2026.
So Caliber spokesperson Ellie Schlapkohl said there are some details that are not yet known or could not yet be disclosed about the project, including an exact address or what food vendors may be inside.
But the food hall on site is planned to include “six diverse food operators, each bringing their own unique twist to the fast-casual dining scene,” according to a news release.
Kettlestone Social also is planned to include outdoor pickleball courts and yard games, duckpin bowling, an arcade, a rooftop bar overlooking the outdoor courtyard, fire pits, dining cabanas and lounge areas — indoor-outdoor spaces meant to be used year-round.
What else is coming to Kettlestone Central?
Kettlestone Central is a $220 million, 153-acre commercial and residential development.
A $40 million, 140,000-square-foot, two-building basketball and volleyball facility — with two outdoor basketball courts — opened in April at 2045 S.E. Glacier Trail. The Kettlestone Central Sports Complex has been said to be one of the 10 largest indoor wood court gyms in the U.S.
Residential properties have been built east and south of the gym.
And the rest of the Kettlestone Central development could have hotels, commercial spaces, medical clinics and additional indoor floor space for events such as conventions and gymnastics.
The Breakfast Club — a popular metro brunch restaurant with locations in Des Moines, Ankeny and West Des Moines — announced in May its plans to open in 2026 in Kettlestone Central.
