How much did Matthew Perry make from ‘Friends’ after the show finished?

Matthew Perry‘s death shocked the world, with many of his former colleagues being left bereft by the untimely passing of one of the most popular actors of his era.

His work on ‘Friends‘ was iconic and his Chandler Bing character remains a constant for fans of the show even two decades on from its final episode.

Whilst the actors all went on to work on other meaningful projects, Perry perhaps never made as much money from anything else as he did with Friends.

His battles with addiction were well documented, and he spoke about those issues at length to try and help other addicts in need.

It is estimated that Matthew Perry earned up to 20 million dollars in yearly residual payments from his work on ‘Friends’, but that leaves a question as to where future payments go now he is deceased.

Where does Matthew Perry’s money go after his death?

This is a rather complicated matter which requires expert analysis from those who understand the field, and that is why Los Angeles-based entertainment lawyer, Tre Lovell, gave an interview to the New York Post clarifying some aspects of the case.

“There may be a trust, and that would be administered privately, through his trustee. He could have had a will, that would be administered under probate court supervision. If he had neither, there’s a statutory framework put in place, where there’s a listing of his heirs that would get his estate,” Lovell explained to the New York Post.

Given the fact Perry doesn’t have a wife or any children, and the fact his parents are still alive, it is likely that the money will be split between his parents.

“They would split his estate. His siblings would be next in line, after the parents. However, since both of his parents are living, they would get it.”
