The Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy said it is collaborating with mental health crisis teams after an 11-year-old student was shot and killed on Friday in Cincinnati’s West End neighborhood.Cincinnati police said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday night near Jones Street and Wade Street.Police chief Terri Theetge said the children were near the intersection at Jones and Wade streets when someone in a dark Sedan fired 22 rounds “in quick succession” into the group of children.Arriving officers located six shooting victims: three were transported to Cincinnati Children’s, two were taken to UC Medical Center, and one was pronounced dead at the scene.Theetge provided the ages of the victims: a 12-year-old, a 13-year-old, two 15-year-olds and a 53-year-old woman. The victim who died at the scene was identified as an 11-year-old boy. On Monday, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office identified the 11-year-old as Dominic Davis.Two of the victims attended Cincinnati College Prep Academy, including an 11-year-old who died. Three attended Cincinnati Public Schools.”We are committed to the well-being and success of our students and have taken proactive steps over the last few days to support those affected by these tragic events. Our top priority is to ensure that our students, parents, and teaching staff receive the assistance they need to cope and heal,” a statement from CCPA said Monday.The school said that CCPA’s school-based services team is working with Beech Acres, a mental health organization, as well as the Talbert House and A Sound Mind counseling services.
