Ryan Gosling Says That Margot Robbie Surprised Him on the Set of ‘Barbie’ with Gifts

Ryan Gosling, who plays the lead role in the upcoming Barbie movie, has talked about the gifts that his co-star Margot Robbie gave him every day while they were shooting.

As reported by E!Online, Gosling, who plays the character Ken opposite Robbie’s Barbie, revealed that Robbie helped him connect with his character in a unique way.

Gosling says that every day on set, Robbie would leave him a pink present with a pink bow. All of the gifts had something to do with the beach, like puka shells or a sign that said “Pray for surf.”

Gosling, who is 42 years old, said that he wasn’t sure what his character’s job as Ken meant, but that Robbie’s gifts helped him figure it out. He said that Barbie’s gifts to Ken were a way for her to help and guide him.

It seems that Robbie’s technique positively impacted Gosling’s performance, as the 32-year-old actress praised his portrayal of Ken in the film.

Robbie even said that it showed “the best version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen.”

The film, directed by Greta Gerwig and set for release on July 21st, features Robbie as the iconic doll and a producer.

Robbie revealed that she didn’t spend much time playing with Barbies as a child, but that her cousin did, so she got plenty of practice with the dolls when she visited.

With the film’s release date rapidly approaching, it’s clear that Gosling and Robbie got along well on set and that Robbie’s gifts helped Gosling get into character as Ken.
