Boston Court Pasadena, a contemporary arts theater established in 2003 in the heart of Pasadena by philanthropist Z. Clark Branson, will mark its 20th anniversary in style with a Roaring ’20s-themed benefit on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Noor Pasadena in the Paseo.
Since its inception, Boston Court has consistently pushed the boundaries of theater and has evolved into a platform for groundbreaking performances. The theater has embraced its mission to enhance empathy through the arts, fostering a diverse range of new plays that challenge audiences and ignite conversations.
This event aims to raise essential funds to support Boston Court’s artistic programming, community engagement, and expansion efforts.
“In order for us to achieve our organization’s strategy and artistic vision, we are culminating our 20th anniversary celebration this November 9 at NOOR Pasadena with our annual benefit fundraiser,” said Manny Prieto, Boston Court’s Executive Director.
“At this benefit fundraiser, we are celebrating the champions that got us to our 20th anniversary and announcing the artists and programming for our 21st season. The organization relies on individual support to offer its artistic programming. Currently, less than 10% of our operating budget comes from ticket sales, thus a need for individual champions to support, sustain and expand our work.”
Prieto also stressed that his goal as the organization continues its journey is “to make the arts central to everyone’s lives, especially young children.”
The organization said it’s embarking on several initiatives including a new membership program, collaboration with strategic partners, and the introduction of student matinees, a summer high school internship program, and a masterclass series for adults.
“For the first time in Boston Court Pasadena’s history, these programs will welcome hundreds of local students and community members, exposing them to high quality productions and offer training in varied arts disciplines,” Prieto said.
Boston Court Pasadena said the event will be a unique opportunity for the local community to contribute to the organization’s future and be part of its next chapter.
“Proceeds of our benefit will support our artistic programming and community engagement efforts for the community of Pasadena and beyond,” the organization’s statement said. “We ask that you consider supporting our momentous twentieth anniversary and unite with Boston Court Pasadena as we expand access to the performing arts for 20 more years to come.”
The evening will commence at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by a dinner lounge and concert at 7:30 p.m.
