CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women’s tennis coach Catherine Hewitt has announced the spring schedule for the upcoming 2024 season.
This fall, the Lady Chants competed in five tournaments, including the CSU Invitational, the ITA Carolina Regionals and the Jimmy Powell Invitational, as well as hosting the Lynn Stevens Memorial Invitational and CCU Battle at the Beach.
CCU ended their 2023 fall season on Oct. 28 at the Jimmy Powell Invitational in Elon, N.C. where Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins finished with a share of the doubles title and Nicole Abel secured soul possession of the singles title.
The Lady Chants will begin the 2024 spring campaign with a meeting with the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C. on Jan. 21.
Following their season opener, Coastal will return home for a three-game homestand against Wofford on Jan. 27, Presbyterian on Feb. 2 and College of Charleston on Feb. 7.
Prior to the start of conference play, the Lady Chants will have four of their next five on the road, facing Charleston Southern on Feb. 12, Clemson on Feb. 17, Campbell at home on Feb. 20, UNC Greensboro on Feb. 28 and UNC Wilmington on Mar. 2.
Sun Belt Conference play will start Mar. 9 when CCU welcomes Georgia State to Conway before heading back out on the road to face Texas State on Mar. 16 and Louisiana on Mar. 17.
The back-half of the schedule features two non-conference meetings with Murray State on Mar. 20 and Southern Miss on Mar. 30 before the conclusion of conference play.
The final seven conference matches of the 2024 season for the Chants include Georgia Southern on Mar. 23, South Alabama on Mar. 29, ULM on Apr. 5, Arkansas State on Apr. 7, Old Dominion on Apr. 12, James Madison on Apr.13 and Troy on Apr. 20.
Postseason play will begin with the 2024 Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Championship on Apr. 25-28.
