New boutique spotlighting local Native American fashion designers opens for holidays

A new fashion designer boutique featuring clothing and jewelry made by local Native American artists and designers is open for the holiday season.

“We’ve put together a collection of native designers,” said Julie O’Keefe, co-owner of Indigichic. “Where people can come in and shop during the holidays.”

Indigichic is a fashion designer boutique with exclusive collections of contemporary Native American Artists’ work.

“We are featuring artists and designers that are very local or that have really close community ties to tribes within the state of Oklahoma,” said Veronica Pipestem, a Co-Owner and featured artist at Indigichic. “There are people that are making these kinds of things that live right here.”

Pipestem says that customers can buy from and talk to local artists in the shop.

“Natives are always looking for different markets and avenues during Christmas season to sell their goods. Of course, Christmas is a huge selling season for everyone,” said O’Keefe.

O’Keefe says they’re also gauging how well people react to having this shop around Christmas time.

“We could get a feel, too, about the success of a shop here in Tulsa and really what products we would have, what products we would add,” said O’Keefe.

He says this could only be the beginning.

“There may be other places that we end up popping up,” said O’Keefe.

O’Keefe says they’re still fleshing out their plan because they’ve just opened.

“We’re more concerned about really keeping everything going, having enough stock, making sure that we’re adding more artisans throughout the season, and really marketing and posting,” said O’Keefe.
