Timbaland sparked outrage among Britney Spears fans after resurfacing comments in which he advised Britney’s ex, Justin Timberlake, to “muzzle” her.

Timbaland came under fire after a video of him speaking with fellow producer 9th Wonder at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on October 30 became widely circulated.

During the Sounds Architects: A Producer Conversation event, an audience member asked Timbaland, real name Timothy Zachery Mosley, a question concerning Justin Timberlake’s song Cry Me A River.

The song became renowned as a breakup hymn following Timberlake’s divorce from Britney Spears.

A member of the audience mentioned that it had returned in the press as a result of Britney’s new biography, The Woman In Me.

Timbaland’s statement in this circumstance elicited strong responses and debate among followers of the pop icon.

The music producer stopped an audience question to make nasty statements about Britney Spears, the 41-year-old pop diva, labeling her ‘mad.’
