Woman hit, killed by car trying to get away from deadly shooting in Raleigh, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – It was just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when Memphis Police (MPD) were called to New Allen and Ridgemont roads in Raleigh.

Police said someone driving a car with a gray bumper pulled up next to another car with two men inside and started shooting.

A man was shot and later died at a hospital, police said.

According to MPD, the men in the car that was shot at tried to drive away from the scene but in the midst of the chaos hit a woman coming out of a nearby convenience store.

A video obtained by FOX13 shows the last seconds of the woman’s life.

Family identified the woman as 54-year-old Alice Holley.

Holley’s daughter, Darielle Lee, told FOX13 that she had spoken to her mother Wednesday morning.

“I called my momma this morning and she said, ‘I’m going to call you back when I’m on my break,’” Lee said. “And she did.”

On Thursday, there were signs of the investigation left behind, including crime scene tape tied around poles.

Maurice Hill, a friend of Holley’s, said the woman always came to the convenience store after work.

Holley’s family is demanding justice in Holley’s death.

“I understand we’re grieving and (expletive) but I just want to know who the (expletive) did it.”

Police said they took the driver of the car that was shot at into custody but are still looking for the suspected shooter.
