Wheeling’s beloved Symphony on Ice: A spectacular blend of music and skating to kick off holiday season

A beloved holiday tradition is back on ice in Wheeling.

The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s holiday spectacular is filled with a combination of Christmas music and ice skating.

Along with the WSO, 300 high school choir members, 125 ice skaters and pro skater Karen Chen will all be in attendance.

“I think it’s great for the valley,” said Rich Lucas, president and CEO, Main Street Bank. “It’s just another family event. It’s really getting together. We have so much fun with it, everyone looks so forward to it, it brings up the holidays.”

“It’s a great family event and a great way to kick off the holiday season,” said Sonja Thoms, executive director, Wheeling Symphony. “There is going to be something to look at in every moment. There will be familiar music, things you want to sing along with in your seat. But I think just a great way for families to get out and start the holiday season.”

Symphony on Ice is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 at WesBanco Arena.
