Ayrshire’s best Indian restaurants according to TripAdvisor reviews


With so many fantastic eateries to choose from, just how do you find the best in the region to get your taste buds tingling?

We headed to review site TripAdvisor, to find out just what Indian restaurants are rated highest throughout Ayrshire…

1. Motherland Spice

It should come as no surprise that the Bradshaw Street eatery in Saltcoats is at the top of the list.

The award-winning venue is at the heart of the local community, and is a regular award winner at major Indian awards.

The restaurant recently triumphed at the prestigious Spice Awards, as it was highly recommended in the ‘Best Indian Restaurant in the south of Scotland’ category.

2. Yasmin’s Fine Indian Cuisine 

This restaurant in Girvan’s Dalrymple Street comes with over 450 top reviews on TripAdvisor, including 360 ‘excellent’ ratings. 

The eatery serves up top Indian cuisine with vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten free options available. 

One reviewer said: “Best Indian cuisine we have had. Restaurant had a warm friendly environment. Fabulous!”

3. 3idiots Ayr

The award-winning restaurant in Ayr’s George Street has garnered a huge following since it opened in 2019. 

The business, which also has a restaurant in Troon, has a won a string of awards over the years and is a hit with diners from across Ayrshire. 

Co-owner Parveen Sharma even opened his own venue Brown Munde in Kilmarnock earlier this year. 

The eatery, which has 450 positive reviews on TripAdvisor, has been hailed on the site as an ‘unexpected gem’.

4. Ayr India 

A staple of Ayr’s restaurant scene, the Seafield Road venue comes in at fourth on the list with over 400 ‘excellent’ reviews on TripAdvisor. 

The family business, which has several eateries across the region, has been looking to expand its reach in recent years. 

The restaurant is hailed on the review site for the quality of its food, service, atmosphere and décor.

5. Auld Acquaintance Cafe

Girvan’s second inclusion on the list, this eatery comes in at number five on the list of best Indian restaurants in Ayrshire. 

The Dalrymple Street venue serves a variety of cuisines including Indian, and has 140 ‘excellent’ reviews on TripAdvisor.

Earlier this year, one reviewer called a visit to the eatery a ‘Delicious Culinary Experience’.
