EIT hails ‘strong results’ from its Regional Innovation Scheme


Programme to boost less innovative countries progressing well, says European Institute of Innovation and Technology

An EU scheme to help countries that traditionally underperform in innovation has achieved “strong results” and is making a major difference to those economies, the bloc’s innovation funder has claimed.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has been trying to counter the ‘innovation gap’ between EU member states through the Regional Innovation Scheme, introduced in 2014. The programme was overhauled in 2021, with 2022 the first full year of the revamped scheme.
